A large atrium and large east-facing windows. We
have received a report from the homeowner
regarding their utility costs for the first year after
moving in, and we would like to share it with you.
The property is located in Kashiba City, Nara
Prefecture. Due to the inland climate with large
temperature differences between day and night ,
there were some concerns about utility costs
when creating an atrium.
In order to achieve both an open living space and
energy savings, the homeowner did a lot of
research and decided to adopt an all-electric system.
Conditions:
① Family composition: couple and one child.
② Moved from a typical rental apartment to
a newly built house with a floor area of 28 tsubo
(approx. 92 sq m).
③ No underfloor heating, but has an induction
cooktop.
④ Used electricity, gas, and kerosene when living
in a rental apartment.
|

Results:
① We saved 27,500 yen per year, which averages
out to 2,290 yen per month.
② I'm honestly relieved that our utility costs have
decreased despite having so many open spaces
and glass windows. This is just
one example, but I hope it will be a helpful reference
for those who are hesitant to create open spaces
or large windows in the future due to concerns about
utility costs.
