■ Design Process
"We would like a simple, modern house that is white, bright, and open." This was what the client couple told us when they first came to us for a consultation.
When they were considering building a new house, they apparently went to
major house builders first. They mentioned that when they expressed a desire
to enter the dining kitchen directly from the underground parking lot without
going outside, it was suddenly presented as an option, significantly increasing
the construction cost, which is why they gave up on major house builders.
They also seemed to want a house with a flat roof, and before coming to us, they had already visited two or three architectural firms that designed houses with flat roofs and received plan proposals.
The reasons they ultimately chose our plan
Reason ①
While many other architectural firms offered designs that were close to cubes with outdoor parking lots, our proposed plan was the only one that was a long, narrow rectangular prism.
Reason②
legal constraint of a 1.5m setback from the wall, which the client was concerned about as a disadvantage of the site conditions, was actively utilized as a guest passageway, making our plan even more appealing to them.
Finally, the client's most important wish was for an exterior wall material
that would never get old. Theysaid they weren't interested in trendy materials. Therefore,
we went with a traditional mortar base with a resin spray finish for the
exterior walls.

Final draft

The initial plan

The initial plan was very well received by the client, but itcontained
some misunderstandings regarding the site's shape. After correcting these,we
decided to reconsider the plan along this route.
Compared to the initial basic design proposal

the building shape has changed slightly due to detailed consideration of
height restrictions. There are still issues to consider, such as window
placement. Since there is still time before construction begins, we will
continue our deliberations.
