This is art that is neither too much nor too little.
Isamu Noguchi is said to have said
, "Art is something you feel with a child's bottom." What a wonderful statement. |

I traveled to Sapporo because I'd always wanted to see that amazing slide.
Sadly, though, as an adult, I was too embarrassed to slide down. I
'd somehow reached an age where I couldn't appreciate art anymore.
It's frustrating, so the next time I go to Sapporo, I definitely want to try it.

Just like architecture, a beautiful landscape is a kind of sculpture in itself. |

On the first day of my trip to Sapporo to meet two friends , Kaneda-kun took me to the well-known Church of the Water of Professor Ando at Tomamu Resort.
|

|
I watched the door on the side of the cross-shaped pond from the church open and close many times, and it was truly wonderful to see the cross on the door and the cross in the pond align. |

On the way back from the original Butadon
Tomamu restaurant in front of Obihiro Station, I had a late lunch with some staff from Kaneda-kun's office.
It was delicious, of course.

I immediately bought some souvenirs at the Rokkatei Obihiro store : their classic butter sandwiches.

Taking a break at Kaneda's house,
I was struck by the impressive house he lives in. |

|
This is also the home of a friend's relative. It was another magnificent house with a clear concept. |

I was taken to the Toyohirakyo Onsen hot springs in the evening. I'm very grateful.

On the second day of our trip to Roy's Coffee House, the former Oguma Residence,
we visited another retro cafe, guided by Kaneda-kun.

Built in 1927, it was apparently designed by Yoshiya Tanoue, an architect who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright. It
features a blend of strong assertiveness and delicate nuances. |

Apparently , Sapporo St. Michael's Church
was designed by architect Antonin Raymond.
The use of wood, a material perfectly suited to the local area, and the bold processing of the wood were truly impressive.
I'd love to have a project like this commissioned!

Genghis Khan
is a must-try when welcoming guests in Hokkaido. I enjoyed it with Kaneda-kun's family. Another friend, Ikeda-kun, was also with us for dinner. |
I want to feel Isamu Noguchi's slide on my bottom.
Not just see it, but next time I definitely want to go to Sapporo to slide down it.
Also, two years later, Kaneda and I traveled to Horyuji Temple in Nara
together
