My favorite painteris Isson Tanaka.
I believe that art is a reflection of the artist's way of life. I think that the works of artists like Cezanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Mondrian, along with their lives, move us deeply.
Isson Tanaka's life, going alone to Amami Oshima at the age of 50 to dedicate himself to honing his passion for painting, is something I truly admire. |

The painting that shocked me:
When I was 26, I traveled around Europe for five weeks.
During my trip, I saw many famous works such as the Mona Lisa and Guernica, but the moment I saw Klimt's Kiss in an Austrian museum, I felt an electric shock run down my spine.
This was despite the fact that, due to my lack of knowledge, I had absolutely no idea about the value of this work.
Incidentally, I've only felt an electric shock run down my spine twice in my long life. The other time was when I opened the bathroom door and a cockroach flew straight towards me.
